Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas

Custom Creations for that Special Someone!

Every Valentine’s Day, chocolate plays a huge part in the romantic festivities, but where did this gift giving idea come from?

In honour of this special day AND as chocolate maniacs we want to remember the beginnings of how exactly chocolate and Valentine’s Day became like peanut butter and jelly, pork and beans- the perfect combination!

The history of Valentine’s Day has religious beginnings; St. Valentine was imprisoned for wedding soldiers who were forbidden to marry. Before his execution it was said he wrote a letter signed “Your Valentine” as a farewell- a loving gesture but a tragedy no doubt!

On a more cheerful note, Valentine’s Day first became associated with romantic love during the Middle Ages, when the tradition of courtly love flourished. In 18th-century England, it evolved into a tradition of lovers expressing their love for each other with gift giving of flowers and confectionary, like chocolate.

Since this day, the tradition of giving lover letters and chocolates to our lovers continues!

Men and women alike buy chocolate on Valentines Day because it IS part of the Valentine’s Day tradition!

And while many of us participate in the tradition, we are all not alike. As individuals, we may be a combination of cool and laid back- perhaps a caramel and milk chocolate kind of guy? Or sweet and creative- perhaps a crinkle chip bar type of gal?  Or finally, maybe funky and adventurous- Candy land chocolate all the way!
