It’s Hallowe’en, Muahahahaaha!

Why Chocolate Tales loves this time of year

Oh it’s the most wonderful time of the yeeeaaarrr! Straddling the line between fall and winter, this season is a time of harvest, celebration and calmness. I enjoy watching the leaves changing in color, the autumn flavors like cinnamons and nutmegs. Autumn is also home to one of my favorite holidays- Hallowe’en!

Hallowe’en originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. At this time, people would wear costumes and light bon fires to ward off ghosts.  In the eighth century Pope Gregory II chose November 1st to honor saints and martyrs, and called this day All Saints Day. The evening before All Saints Days was originally called All Hallows’ Eve, and later became known as Halloween!

Halloween, Hallowe’en, “All Hallows’ Evening”, or All Saints Day… any way you shake it, like I said, it’s one of my favorite times of year! I enjoy this holiday for a couple of reasons:

  • 1) I can dress up as Lady Gaga, a bird watcher or ping -pong table and actually make friends

  • 2) This is the season of harvesting farmers remaining crops, and as a foodie I get super excited about all the fall flavors:  carrots, cabbage, pumpkins, figs, artichokes, dark chocolate, exotic spices… wipe drool from chin…. kale, cranberries and apples.

  • 3) All the chocolate! I can give away, trade and receive plenty of Hallowe’en treats, chocolates being of course my favourite from the candy batch!

Chocolate Tales understands the value in good chocolate during this time of year! Get festive with us and check out our themed Chocolate Making workshops! Use Hallowe’en inspired molds to create season friendly chocolate treats. This workshop includes a free gift along with purchase of the workshop!

Whether you plan to celebrate Hallowe’en by trick-or-treating, attending a costume party, decorating, carving pumpkins, apple bobbing, having a bonfire, telling scary stories and watching scary movies we hope you have a great one! Post your costumes and Halloween recipes on our facebook page!
